Another busy weekend
We had another busy weekend. In between phone calls and appointments, we managed to steal some quality time with the kids. Since school is only a week away, we did some back-to-school shopping. I was surprised to see the malls relatively tame. Usually at this time of year, the mall is a zoo. Maybe we went during a lull (thankfully!). We got some of the supplies the kids needed, but I expect to make a couple more trips between now and the first week back in class.
On Saturday afternoon we had a couple of appointments to keep us busy so the kids walked over to my sister’s place. She just purchased a hot tub so the kids were excited to visit. Since it was at least 24 degrees outside, I didn’t expect the kids would want to go into the hot tub. But when they got there, my sister’s boyfriend got so excited to see them that he threw them both into the hot tub - clothes and all! After the kids were wet, they just stayed in the hot tub - for two hours! I couldn’t believe it. They had a great time.
The following day we went there again for dinner. I wasnt’ going to go because I didn’t want the kids in the hot tub for hours on end and maybe even catching a cold (since the hot tub is outside). But my sister promised that they wouldn’t go in until after the kids left. I was fine with that.
We had a fantastic Mediterranean dinner. There was hoummus, tsztiki, pita, greek salad, chicken souvalaki and couscous. For dessert, my sister out-did herself and made two homemade pies - one blueberry and one apple blackberry. Needless to say, we were all impressed. After dessert, we headed home early so the kids could shower and get to bed at a decent time. I’m trying to get the kids back on their school schedule. I’ve got one more week to transition them back into waking up early. Wish me luck!
