Here comes the rain again
We knew it would come sooner or later- our first day of rain after weeks of glorious sun. Actually, I donít mind it. It gives us a break from watering the lawn plus I donít feel like Iím missing out on anything by working because the weather is drab outside anyway. Besides, rainy days make staying home feel cozier and the kids donít mind doing their homework so much this way.
Speaking of cozy homes, my sisterís home renovations are fully underway. Theyíve gutted the kitchen and part of the basement. Theyíre re-doing almost the entire house. Itís an exciting project for them, but with a baby on the way in a couple of months, their timeline could be tight. Theyíve hired a contractor to do some of the work that they canít do. Everything else, theyíre doing themselves (or should I say, her husband is doing himself). The flooring is torn out, the walls are almost ready to be re-painted and the kitchen cabinets are torn out. She tells me that itís becoming tiring having to live in the house while itís being renovated. Iím sure it is. Imagine not having a kitchen for months! (That could be a blessing for someone who dislikes cooking, but for most people, itís a huge inconvenience.) Or having to cram all of your necessities in a dusty livingroom while you tear down the walls around you. Itís stressful and tiring for sure!
The good news is that in a couple of months, theyíll have a brand new home they can truly call their own. And after having lived through the renovation, theyíll most definitely be able to get through anything together!
