Movie night
Last night, we watched The Phantom of the Opera on DVD, directed by Joel Schumaker. I had seen the production live years ago (before the kids of course) so it was nice to see it again. The music was fantastic. The girl who plays the lead role of Christine has the voice of an angel. She’s amazing. Everyone else did a great job. I had forgotten how much I liked this opera until I watched it again. While watching the production on DVD is a convenient way to see this opera, I have to say that it’s nothing like experiencing it live. If it ever comes to Vancouver again, be sure to catch it. It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen. If that doesn’t happen, do the next best thing and rent the movie!
Speaking of movies, the boys are going to watch Star Wars III this weekend. My brother in law (who’s in his late thirties) liked the movie so much that he went to the midnight showing. Then the following day, he watched it again in the afternoon. Wow, Star Wars twice in 12 hours - and he plans to go again with the kids - now that’s a devoted fan!
Since we girls don’t care so much for Star Wars, we get a couple hours of peace and quiet. We’re looking forward to that. Have a great weekend.
