Back to the grind

Well, we’re back into our school year routine: up at six am (that’s me, not the kids) to check my email and review appointments and schedule for the day. Then it’s time to jump into the shower and get ready before waking the kids. I make breakfast and prepare the kids’ lunches while they brush, wash and dress. We eat, review any homework they have and then it’s off to school. Getting the kids up and out of the house is definitely the most exhausting part of my day!

Everything is starting up too. There’s hockey, dance, swimming, skating - you name it, the kids seem to be doing it. The important thing, however, is that they’re enjoying it more now than ever. Our daughter is enrolled in probably every dance class available for her age. She even signed up for a hip hop class with girls much older than she simply because her schedule didn’t permit her to take the class for her age. And you know what - she’s loving it. She’s at a great age where she’s independent enough to do her own activities, yet she still needs me enough to make me happy. It’s a good balance.

On the work side of things, the housing market is certainly picking up again. We had a slow month in August, as expected, since many people enjoyed the remainder of the summer weather. Now with the kids back in school, people are interested in real estate again. That’s a good thing because with the kids busy with their own activities, we need to stay busy ourselves. Like that’s ever an issue!
