Happy Easter!

March 28th, 2005
This weekend our family celebrated the holiday by attending Willingdon Church’s fantastic Easter play. It was the best one yet! The church has an amazing choir, numbering over 50 members strong. They also have a world-class orchestra, talented enough to give the VSO a run for their money! (Last Christmas, my sister was so inspired by the orchestra that her boyfriend surprised her with a violin for Christmas and she took up lessons in January!) If you’ve ever attended one of their productions, you’d agree that their plays are professional enough to be performed at the Queen Elizabeth theatre. Needless to say, we all thoroughly enjoyed it and thought

Get the best from yourself!

March 24th, 2005
As we mentioned in our last blog, we participated in the Power Within seminar held last week at the Trade and Convention Centre. We’re still pumped from the event! This morning, to re-visit this fantastic experience, we re-read our workshop handout and found an article that everyone could benefit from. It was written by Robin S. Sharma, a successful author, coach and speaker on living your best life.

In his article, Mr. Sharma says, “Too many poeple die at 20 and are buried at 80. Too many people coast through life, never manifesting their full potential and using only a fraction of their personal talents.” For readers looking to get

The Power Within

March 21st, 2005
Another busy weekend as usual, but we tackled it with fresh resolve after attendding the motivating seminar the Power Within on Friday. If you hadn’t heard about it, the Power Within Seminar was a full day of world class speakers, ranging from the producer of the infamous Survivor series, Mark Burnett, to the equally well-known author and national talk show host, Dr. Phil McGraw.

The most inspiring and exciting speaker for us was Mark Burnett, producer of Survivor. His rags to riches tale was enough to pump any entrepreneur to take immediate action. At age 22, he took a job as a nanny in California for a 21 year old girl. This position

Spring Break

March 17th, 2005
With Spring Break just around the corner, it looks like the housing market is taking a bit of a breather. But we don’t mind because it gives us a chance to spend some quality time with the kids. They’re growing so fast that we try to spend as much time with them as we can. Soon enough, we know they won’t want to hang out with old mom and dad anymore so we’re making the most of this time.

It looks like our son will be playing hocky for part of the break. He’s played hockey since he was three and he’s really into it now. His team is doing well and they should be wrapping up the season next week. I hate to admit it, but I won’t miss driving

the Member of Parliament for Burnaby-Douglas

March 16th, 2005
By DAVID WEIR

Bill Siksay has succeeded his former boss to become the Member of Parliament for Burnaby-Douglas.

New Democrat Siksay eked out a narrow victory over Liberal Bill Cunningham in Monday’s federal election. Conservative George Drazenovic finished third.

“Tomorrow the challenges begin. I want to say I’m anxious to get started, but oh my god, I’m tired,” Siksay told his supporters. “But I am anxious to get started.”

Siksay’s win marks the beginning of a new chapter for the riding. It’s the first time in 25 years that someone not named Svend has won the riding.

Svend Robinson was going to run for

First-Time Home Buyers (Burnaby Real Estate)

Step 1: Get pre-approved for a mortgage Sit down with your mortgage broker and find out exactly what you can afford.

Step 2: Find a real estate agent In a busy real estate market, having a knowledgeable real estate agent working for you is the most powerful tool you have in closing the deal on the house of your dreams. A new listing takes two to three days to become available to the general public. But realtors have access to this information sooner.

After you’ve selected a real estate agent, sit down with your agent to outline what you’re looking for in a home. This way, your chances of fulfilling your needs and wants will be
