Another busy weekend

August 29th, 2005
We had another busy weekend. In between phone calls and appointments, we managed to steal some quality time with the kids. Since school is only a week away, we did some back-to-school shopping. I was surprised to see the malls relatively tame. Usually at this time of year, the mall is a zoo. Maybe we went during a lull (thankfully!). We got some of the supplies the kids needed, but I expect to make a couple more trips between now and the first week back in class.

On Saturday afternoon we had a couple of appointments to keep us busy so the kids walked over to my sister’s place. She just purchased a hot tub so the kids were excited to

We love summer

August 25th, 2005
With back to school merchandise quickly filling the stores, I can’t help but savour every minute of summer even more. I know that many parents look forward to having the kids back in school, simply for the peace of mind of not having to worry about sitters, daycare and like. The thing is, and I know that parents with active children will agree with me, the school year is so busy with hockey, ballet, swimming, tap, jazz and all of their other extra-curicular activities that it’s nice to have a break from the driving. And that’s what the summer is for me.

Summer is also the time for us to do more things as a family. When the kids are in school,

An amazing discovery

August 22nd, 2005
Last week, I was at Cyclone Skating and stumbled across the business card for a chiropractor who specialized in sports, located in Coquitlam. Maybe that’s just what our 10 year old needed. I asked the store employees if they knew anything about the doctor and they provided glowing reports about him. So I called his office, hoping (but not expecting) to get an appointment. As luck would have it - he was available. So we headed to his office for our first consultation.

We didn’t have to wait long. When he saw us, he spent an entire hour reviewing Brandon’s condition. He was amazing. He knew exactly what was wrong with Brandon. We left

July stats

August 18th, 2005
Last month, demand continued to outpace supply - a dominant trend this year for the Greater Vancouver real estate market. Case in point: although sales for the year have increased by 5.1 per cent, listings for the same time period actually decreased by 8.4 per cent. That means fewer inventory for all the eager buyers in the market! (And likely higher prices as a result!)

Looking at July’s stat’s we see that the real estate market in Greater Vancouver has not taken a break at all. Last month, sales for apartments, detached and attached properties increased by 21 per cent compared to July 2004’s figures. Impressive! Residential sales alone increased

Lazy summer days

August 17th, 2005
Things have been a little quiet around the office this August. But that’s okay. It gives us time to catch up on the year. You should see the office now. We’re going through all of our files for the year to make sure that eveything is in order. We’ve been updating our client database, organizing and closing files for the year. Doing these little chores now puts us in a good position come September when things start to heat up again.

We don’t have any big holidays planned for the remainder of the summer. I think we’ll probably take an afternoon off here and there just to get the kids out of the house. I’m sure that a day at the PNE is

The more the merrier!

August 15th, 2005
Last week, we managed to zip off to Harrison Hot Springs for a mini vacation with the kids. Our oldest has a friend from Swift Current staying with us so there were six of us in total. We don’t mind. The more the merrier is what we always say. We enjoy Harrison because we get to do things on the lake with the kids. They love boating, tubing, water skiing, and anything else water-related. The best thing about Harrison is that it never gets really crowded. It’s surprising because it’s a beautiful place to vacation. We used to go to Osooyoos or Kelowna, but the lakes are so busy there we found somewhere else to enjoy the sun. Since it’s not as crowded

Phil’s Birthday

August 10th, 2005
It’s Phil’s birthday today! We celebrated the big event over the weekend with a BBQ at home with our families. We invited our parents and all of our siblings and nephews and nieces over and let me tell you, it was a full house! There were kids running through the house, teenagers gathered in the backyard and adults congregated in the kitchen. It was great!

Fortunately, I had the time to shop on Saturday because I unexpectedly spent all of Sunday afternoon with clients. Thanks to everyone’s help, we had a wonderful dinner of barbequed chicken kabobs, baked salmon, potato salad, caesar salad and a Saint Honore for dessert. We were all over

Lazy days of summer

August 5th, 2005
This weather has been amazing. Last weekend members of my family took advantage of the weather and went camping at Beaver Lake Resort. We stayed home and took advantage of activities around time. From what I’ve heard and judging by the pictures I’ve seen, they had a fantastic time. They stayed in a cabin on the lake. They fished, hiked, barbequed, had bonfires and relaxed. We’ll definitely have to book a weekend for next year (since they’re fully booked for the remainder of the summer).

We’ve had an enjoyable summer so far. We’ve been to Playland, watched the fireworks, visited with extended family, and took generally tried to take advantage
